Ordering your fuel early can provide comfort during the cold winter months. Try not to let your tank get any lower than ¼ full. Due to snow and ice, drivers will be busier and the deliveries will take longer, so planning ahead can certainly offer relief that you won’t run out of fuel.
It is important to make sure your driveway is clear of snow and ice when you know a delivery is coming. If the driveway is covered in either/or, our driver may not be able to make it to your home to deliver the fuel you need.
Please help our drivers by shoveling out a path to the fill area, if need be. Remember days are shorter in the winter, so our drivers may be delivering in the dark. Marking your fill pipe will assist our drivers in finding the location.
Another significant tip is to keep your vent and fill pipes clear of snow and ice around your home. If anything is obstructing these, it could cause your system to lose power, or worse, your home could fill with carbon monoxide (a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that is slightly less dense than air and toxic to humans). Carefully using a broom to remove snow and ice from your vent and fill pipes is most effective since shovels can cause damage. Also, try to avoid shoveling or plowing snow up against vents, and remember to remove icicles from overhead to prevent the dripping water from freezing over your vent and fill pipes.
